Donna Johnson Moorer
Donna Johnson Moorer, 49, an artist who specialized in hand-painted wooden historical designs, died Sunday at her home after a long illness from cancer.
She was the wife of Tallahassee pediatrician Dr. Sam Moorer, Jr., and the daughter of the late Malcolm B. Johnson, former Tallahassee Democrat editor, and Mrs. Johnson. A native of Tallahassee, Mrs. Moorer graduated from Leon High School. She attended Brenau College in Gainesville, Ga., and earned a degree in art history from Florida State University in 1962. After graduating from FSU, she was hired by Colonial Williamsburg in the public relations division. During the past decade, her designs, marketed as "by donna creations," were sold by Colonial Williamsburg, as well as Mount Vernon, Monticello, Historic Charleston and other historical associations. In Tallahassee, her historical and nature designs were sold at the Tallahassee Junior Museum of Florida History.
She was a member of the Faith Presbyterian Church, Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and the Tallahassee Junior League. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Moorer is survived by her daughter, Ashley Moorer Yates of Tallahassee, and son, Samuel Anderson Moorer, who attends the University of Florida.
